Spring Cleaning for the Mind, Body, Spirit & Space

springCycles are all around us. From colossal planetary cycles down to a women’s inner fertility cycle, we are constantly taking cues from sun up to sundown (yes, another cycle that guides us). That is why its so important to syncopate yourself to the rhythms of the Universe. When you do this, you innately feel better. Life seems easier. You are aligning yourself for the best to unfold, for synchronicity to sky rocket and for you to feel like you are in groove, not against it.

Even though Spring arrived on the calendar over a month ago, it didn’t really feel like it until a few days ago. Here in New York City, once the buds start forming on the trees, the bulbs shoot up in the tree pits and you see people wearing shorts outside, only then does it really feel like this bad ass winter is leaving us for good. Yesterday I did a deep cleaning of all the closets and swapped out the heavy sweaters and snow boots for the linen dresses and sandals. In the process, six bags of unwanted clothes made their way out of the home and I felt much lighter, more productive and more prepared to tackle whatever this upcoming cycle of new beginnings may bring.

1. MIND

The closets represent the deep recesses of our subconscious. We hide in there what we don’t want others to see. Spring is the optimal time to tackle a thorough cleaning. As you get rid of what you no longer wear/use/want visualize that you are also getting rid of negative patterns that no longer serve you. The bag of clothes that you are letting go of can become an undesirable attribute you no longer want in yourself.

2. BODY

Time for a sea salt scrub all over your beautiful body. As you are exfoliating away the dead skin cells, tell yourself that you are removing anything that is holding you back. You are now removing any fear, self-doubt, worry, you-fill-in-the-blank. You are ready (and supple and glowing) to tackle the new season which represents renewal and fresh starts.

3. SPIRITSAGE01-6

Once the housecleaning and body scrubbing is done, its time to burn some sage. Bundles of dried sage are now, thankfully, becoming a ubiquitous staple in nearly every health food store. From Whole Foods to Fairway, you can easily find this herb that has been around for ages. As you waft around the burning sage, tell yourself that you cleaning the energetic matrix of your home. You are getting rid of all the negative energy that may have accumulated over this harsh and brutal winter. From bad dreams to arguments, visualize it all disappearing out the doors and windows and nothing but golden healing light and good energy is filling your home.

Congratulations! Your mind, body and spirit and your space are now ready for whatever wonderful opportunities may come your way this Spring. When you fine tune yourself to the greater energies around you, you are psychologically, emotional and physically setting yourself up for great things to come.
