The Changing Flow of Running A Business During a Pandemic
The first month into this pandemic I wrestled with the shock of having no choice but to shut down my newly opened flagship store and wellness center. Anxiety laden questions and panicky “what if’s” consumed my pre-dawn tossing and turning on a regular basis. Unknown variables – both surrounding the magnitude of the virus and what the post-pandemic world would look like – took over, leaving me feeling helpless and at the mercy of an unrestricted, ubiquitous malevolent force I could only imperturbably attempt to ward off with isolation, a flimsy mask, thin gloves and rigorous hand washing. It hardly felt like appropriate armor in this Battle of Fear born from a walloping, nasty, infectious microorganism causing so much devastation.
The Holistic Home Company Celebrates Five Years in Business!
I started The Holistic Home Company five years ago this month as a way of making all natural beauty and wellness products with my then eight year old daughter. Back then, the products connected the Mind, Body, Spirit and Space and today, that philosophy is still present in everything we do. The Mind portion cover the psychology and subconscious symbolism of our products. Every product is encouraged to be used with a positive intention – whether that is visualizing you are releasing the negative while using our Good Juju Body Wash, or that you are elevating the energy of your dinner table with our Crystal Napkin Rings.

It’s been a little over a year since I launched The Holistic Home Company, selling luxury goods online for the mind, body, spirit, space and I finally felt comfortable to venture into wholesale. Uncommon Goods picked up two of my gift sets, one is the Deluxe Scrub Set and the other is the Aromatherapy Spray Gift set. The Aromatherapy Spray Gift Set has become a huge hit. I’ve had to scale up my business to keep up with the orders, hire new employees, get more space for materials and luckily, the business has adjusted well with the new pace. Selling online has been great but I felt The Holistic Home Company was ready to expand to brick and mortar spaces and it could not be just any place. It had to be special. It had to be a place where the energy of the space matched the energy of my products. I set the intention, put it out there to the Universe, and it happened.

I’ve been busy making products, sourcing artisans, obtaining trademarks, creating labels and designing a website for my new company that will launch next month. (The name of my company is also the name of my upcoming book, The Holistic Home, which comes out Fall 2015.)
